Judo athlete trains while listening to AC/DC.
Rafael Silva, the judoka who won the bronze medal in the over 100 kg category at the Rio Olympics, said he prepares for fights by listening to heavy metal music. The 2.03 m tall, over 150 kg athlete says he's a fan of AC/DC and Iron Maiden.
The athlete has a reputation for being very calm and says he uses Rock to prepare for fights: “It’s because I’m very calm. I looked for tools to try to activate my aggressiveness. It’s something I had difficulty with: being too passive in the fight and not throwing many punches. These are things that helped me focus and improve in those aspects.”
When asked which band he prefers, Silva replied: “I’m eclectic, but before fighting I like to listen to AC/DC .” Rafael won bronze last Friday.
