Queen is negotiating a residency at the famous Sphere in Las Vegas, according to guitarist Brian May , who confessed that he likes the idea and wants to continue performing, but is tired of the monotony of touring.
In an interview with Rolling Stone , the guitarist said: “I’m very interested in Sphere. It got my mind working. I was sitting watching the Eagles and thinking, ‘We should do this. The material we could bring to it would be amazing.’ So, yes, I’d like to do it. We’re talking.”
Regarding the monotony of touring, Brian confessed: “I’ve been touring for 50 years and there’s a part of me that feels like it’s enough. I don’t like the idea of waking up in your hotel room and being stuck. Recently, I’ve had some experiences where things happened at home with my family and I couldn’t get back. That annoyed me and I thought, ‘I’m not sure if I want this anymore.’ I feel like I’ve given up my freedom too many times. So, my feeling right now is that I don’t want to tour anymore. I still want to do shows. I still want to innovate.”
Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have been touring with Queen, with singer Adam Lambert on vocals, since 2011. But Taylor told Rolling Stone that he rejects the idea of a farewell tour:
“I think we’re not finished yet. And I don’t think we’re going to say, you know, a farewell tour or anything like that. Because it never ends, does it?” Brian May added: “Few people know, but Adam and we are in the studio trying things out. Nothing has really materialized yet. Some things are meant to happen and others aren’t.”
