In February of this year, Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor revealed that the band was working with vocalist Adam Lambert on a new song, but nothing had been finalized. Now, during a new interview, May revealed that the attempt happened more than once, although they continue to have the problem of not being able to finalize any plan.
Speaking to Guitar Player (via Contact Music ), May confirmed that the group has met with Lambert more than once to write new songs. “I always say, ‘I don’t know.’ It would have to be a very spontaneous moment. Actually, Adam, Roger and I have been in the studio trying things out, but they haven’t happened,” he revealed, adding: “So, it’s not that we’re closed to the idea, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet.”
This would be the group's first new material with Lambert since he joined them on tour a decade ago. They recorded a version of "You Are the Champions" last year in tribute to healthcare professionals and in the same year released the live album Live Around the World.
May revealed that in the last year they haven't felt inspired to create new things. "To be honest, life has taken a turn that's made it difficult to explore something like that. Things can change, but I don't believe they will change anytime soon."
