We can already count the months we've been in quarantine on one hand, and although many states are easing social isolation measures, many people are still at home. The Wikimetal has been working from home for some time now, and we've been using this opportunity to introduce you to new bands.

In the eighth installment of our quarantine series, we've selected five bands worth discovering and following their journey through the challenging national music scene, especially now during the pandemic. So, here they are:

1) The São Paulo-based band Growings plays with their blues and alternative influences to revive the genre's roots.

“We always wanted to make a more alternative rock sound with roots in the blues. And 'Ready for Tomorrow' was entirely created to evoke that Dirty Rock wave from Tennessee, from the riff to the lyrics,” says vocalist Iba when talking about the group's recent release. The track “Ready for Tomorrow” was released along with a lyric video that you can watch below.

Besides Iba, the band consists of Ray Pissinati (guitar), Diego Ramalho (drums), Rob Balboa (guitar), and Cleiton Galvão (bass).

2) Also from São Paulo, Corazones Muertos has just released the album Livin' Dead Stories , a work with ten tracks that move between punk and rock. The group shows its flexibility on the album by presenting other musical influences such as reggae and ska in "Runaway Song".

Corazones Muertos consists of Joe Klenner (vocals and guitar), Ziggy Mendonça (guitar), Índio (bass), and Jeff Molina (drums). Livin' Dead Stories was recorded, mixed, and mastered by producer Michel Kuaker at Studio Wah Wah. It was released by Xaninho Discos. Listen to the album below.

3) The Paraná-based band Hell Gun released their first full-length album earlier this month. Kings of Beyond features nine tracks showcasing a mature band that has delved into the world of speed metal. Furthermore, the songs have 80s influences with a touch of horror in some of them.

Hell Gun is Matheus Luciano (vocals), Lucas Licheski (guitar), Jean Fallas (guitar), Marllon Woicizack (bass), and Sidnei Dubiella (drums). Listen to Kings of Beyond below.

4) Imperial Pilots innovated in their influences. The alternative rock trio recently released their self-titled debut album. With Joey Manzano on guitars and vocals, Javi Bonfil on drums and backing vocals, and Pedro Roquini Quentin Tarantino films for their performances.

“The songs offer an interpretation, in everyday language, of current issues, such as depression, insecurity, and forms of harassment (…) The album presents all these issues like a script inspired by a Quentin Tarantino film. You find yourself reflecting on controversial issues while simultaneously feeling invited to dance to the rhythm of the music.” Listen to Imperial Pilots below.

5) Hailing from Belém, the group Junoplast Cave is preparing to release their first EP, How to Stop Bad Thoughts , and is already showing its strength with the singles "Cheap Lies" and "Superman".

According to them, the work, which draws inspiration from bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Far From Alaska , will be filled with everyday topics such as anxiety, sentimental issues, and conspiracy theories that are experienced daily.

Junoplast Cave consists of Matheus Brevis (vocals and synthesizers), Ruann Magno (guitar, backing vocals and synthesizers), Arthur Cunha (bass, backing vocals and synthesizers) and Daniel Pinheiro (drums). Watch the music videos for the singles “Cheap Lies” and “Superman” below.
