The pandemic is far from over, and quarantine is being adopted by what appears to be a minority of the population; however, what is also far from over, this time thankfully, are our lists of Brazilian bands you need to know.
In the seventh part of our list, we're going to introduce you to four new bands to add to your playlists for everyday enjoyment, whether at home or out and about (being careful, of course!).
1) The Brazilian band Skunk Oil , recently released their new single "Godlike," which comes with a music video to reinforce the dynamic and aggressive energy of the track, which features several layers of riffs, synthesizers, keyboards, and harmonies.
The band was formed in 2017 in the "city of stars" and has members of diverse nationalities, cultures, and personalities, thus creating a unique band.
The group, formed by leader and guitarist Dennis D'Angelo , keyboardist Lucas Tadini , and former drummer Caio Moskalkoff, draws influences from Black Sabbath and Soundgarden to Muse, Queens Of The Stone Age , and Marilyn Manson .
2) Rafael Torres, a guitarist from Pernambuco started playing at age 17, forming his first thrash metal band, Tormento , in 2008 while studying after receiving a scholarship at a music school. These opportunities led him to share the stage with names like Sepultura and Torture Squad.
After Tormento disbanded, the artist went to college to continue his music education, learning by playing alongside new artists and exploring genres such as folk, jazz, classic rock, and even pop.
Recently, the guitarist released his new project, Overdrive Monkey , which features sounds from classic rock and black music. Check it out below!
3) The band Leatherjacks , founded in 2016 by Mauro Cordeiro , has a sound that is a fusion of the best of modern rock with classic rock.
The group's first album, The Lost Arks Of Rock And Roll , released in 2017, received positive reviews from several specialized portals, with all production handled by Cordeiro.
In 2020, Leatherjacks returned more dangerous than ever, literally, Extremely Dangerous , with their second album, released in April of this year. Check out the album below:
4) The band The Beatflux , a global collective rock project based in London and conceived by guitarist, producer and London Calling 89FM Muca , are preparing to release a new EP soon.
Influenced by 90s grunge and 70s rock, the band, formed by Muca, drummer Ale Iafelice , and bassist Pereira , are releasing singles to introduce music lovers to their sound with the tracks "Bleeding Myself" and their most recent, "State Of Mind".
“After releasing the first single, 'Bleeding Myself,' two months ago, I realized that not only did I have this EP to release, but also many new tracks that I'm already working on,” says Muca. “I just think, why not have a collective of great musicians out there to be part of this project, instead of having the same musicians? I feel that with so much talent out there, I want to invite some of these people to be a part of it.”
