With or without the easing of restrictions, we're still in quarantine mode and many are still at home – or partially at home. With that in mind, Wikimetal continues its series on Brazilian bands.
Here, we're going to introduce you to three new bands for you to enjoy and, at the same time, support the national music scene. Ready? Let's go!
1) The band Warred released their first music video earlier this year, and the chosen song was "Behind the Mask." The single will be part of the São Paulo-based band's debut album, which has no release date or title announced yet.
According to Warred himself, the song "portrays the worship of hypocritical icons in today's status-driven society." Vocalist Pedro Mion continues: "The lyrics show the contrast and innocence of people who follow false idols and accept them regardless of the usurpation they commit in their lives, considering lust and mediocrity as the parameter of success."
Alongside Mion, Warred consists of Arthur Ernandes (guitar), Rodrigo Andrade (guitar), Jorge Nascimento (drums), and “Espiga” Augusto (bass). Watch the video below.
2) With influences ranging from Pantera and Metallica to Raimundos and Rage Against the Machine, the São Paulo-based band Matadoro released their first EP in April of this year. Longe de Tudo features four powerful songs that showcase the power trio's blend of heavy metal and hardcore.
Matadoro is JC (vocals and guitar), JR (bass), and Alex Rocko (drums). Listen to the EP below.
3) Hailing from the interior of São Paulo, the band Rotores released their first EP last year. Gum In My Head is loaded with influences like the Ramones and Screeching Weasel, among others. The first is clear, as the cover art features an illustration of Joey Ramone with chewing gum on his head, alluding to the EP's name.
Rotores is formed by Marcelo Romero (bass and vocals), Junior Damasceno (guitar) and Caio Oliveira (drums). Listen to the EP Gum In My Head below.
