We've been in quarantine for… wait, what week is this again? With social isolation, it's hard to know what day it is and how long we've been at home. We know what we need to do to stay healthy and away from the virus, but what about our mental health?
Here at Wikimetal , our way of staying sane throughout this whole process is, of course, with lots of music. And with that in mind, we've started a series of articles showcasing Brazilian bands to cheer you up during these dark times.
Today, we're on the fourth part of this series (see parts one , two , and ), and here we'll introduce you to HellgardeN, No Life On Earth, Goaten, and Living Shields . See below.
1) In April, the band HellgardeN released their first studio album, celebrating the mix of sounds we love so much: thrash, groove, and heavy metal. Making Noise, Living Fast was recorded in Rio de Janeiro with producer Lisciel Franco and mastered by American Alan Douches, known for working with Motorhead, Sepultura, High on Fire, and other successful bands.
HellgardeN consists of Diego Pascuci on vocals, Caick Gabriel on guitar, Guilherme Biondo on bass, and Matheus Barreiros on drums. Listen to the album Making Noise, Living Fast below.
2) No Life On Earth is a project by vocalist Andre Acosta (Scattered Storm, Hereafter the Wave), guitarist Alan Wallace (Eminence), bassist PJ (Jota Quest) and drummer Jay Arriaga (Scattered Storm, Years of Cold).
The band has just released their first single, “The Gravity,” which features a (very) special guest appearance by Andreas Kisser on guitar solo. The song is heavy, has a great melody, and definitely deserves your attention. Listen below.
3) The trio Goaten released their first EP this year, showing that Porto Alegre's metal scene is more alive than ever. Francis Lima (vocals and bass), Rafael Drinkwine (drums), and Daniel Limas (guitar) released The Following in order to explore the heavy metal of the 1980s.
Who here doesn't enjoy a trip down memory lane? Listen to the EP below.
4) To finish off our list for today, let's travel to Araçatuba (SP) to discover the symphonic metal of Living Shields . The group is preparing the release of their first full-length studio album entitled Better Time , and has released the first single, "Deafening Silence".
The band, which released its first EP Deliriun in 2014, is formed by Bruna Moreira, Larissa Melinsky, Daniel Constuchenko, Guilherme Moura , and Fernando Souza . Watch the music video for “Deafening Silence” below.
