This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

The "mockumentary," that is, a parody of a documentary, shows the American tour of one of the "loudest bands in England": Spinal Tap . The production was so successful that the band even became a reality, releasing albums and embarking on tours.

Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster (2004)

The documentary shows the behind-the-scenes story of the turbulent relationship between the members of Metallica . The production includes the departure of bassist Jason Newsted in 2001, the hiring of a therapist to help improve the atmosphere among the musicians, frequent fights between vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, and James's entry into and exit from a rehabilitation clinic to treat alcoholism.

Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (2005)

This documentary about heavy metal , directed by musician and anthropologist Sam Dunn (also responsible for documentaries such as Flight 666 and Metal Evolution , which will soon be on this list), showcases the genre's culture in various aspects, from sexuality to religion, and, moreover, features testimonials from idols of the movement such as Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie .

Global Metal (2008)

The documentary, a sequel to Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (2005), explores the culture influenced by heavy metal around the world, as well as its impact on the market.

Heavy Metal in Baghdad (2007)

The documentary tells the story, set during the Iraq War, of the members of the only heavy metal in Iraq, called Acrassicauda .

Anvil!: The Story of Anvil (2008)

A documentary about the heavy metal Anvil , active since 1978, with great influence but almost no commercial success. This, however, never made the musicians give up on their dreams.
