Pyrotechnic effects startled fans during Evanescence 's show in Tampa, Florida, last Friday, the 12th, giving them the impression of a fire on stage.
During the band's performance in Florida, flames from the pyrotechnic effects appeared to accidentally reach a curtain located on the side of the stage. Videos recorded by fans show a section of the curtains seemingly catching fire while a member of the technical crew apparently acted to contain the flames, which were extinguished within seconds.
Reported by several news outlets, the alleged fire was apparently part of the performance of the song "Calm Down," one of the tracks from their recently released album Sanctuary. A senior member of Evanescence's tour crew informed Wikimetal that the effects were planned and that the curtains are made of non-flammable material.
The performance is part of the North American tour promoting Sanctuary, Evanescence's sixth studio album. The band, led by Amy Lee, will be joined by guests Spiritbox, Poppy, Nova Twins , and K. Flay.
