Protests by religious groups mark the history of rock and metal, but it seems difficult to get used to the same tired arguments against heavy music. The most recent target is the student radio station WSOU, from Seton Hall University, accused of Satanism by the protesters.
With crowds gathering and many participants not wearing masks correctly, the group has been holding protests on the campus, located in New Jersey, United States, since the end of 2020. Their demand is for a change in the radio station's style or an end to activities that promote "Satanism, witchcraft, occultism, rape, genocide against Christians, blasphemy against the Eucharist, political violence, heinous violence against women and children and the Black population," as described on the official website of the Shut Down WSOU .
Radio station WSOU was founded in 1948, with programming focused on metal music and run by students of the university, which is a Catholic institution. According to Metal Injection , a faculty representative stated that they meet “regularly to review the station’s content and operational policies and standards.”
