Andrew Watts , Ozzy Osbourne , recalled the creative process behind the album Ordinary Man (2020) in a recent interview, specifically regarding the track "All My Life".
Guitar Player magazine (via Ultimate Guitar ), Watts worked on the instrumental compositions alongside Chad Smith and Duff McKagan . “We did the main sessions for the album in four days. This song probably came about on the second,” he said. “We were referencing everything we love about Ozzy. I listened to songs of his that I love and that the fans love too.”
The main references were “Mama, I'm Coming Home” and “No More Tears.” Quickly, Andrew Watts began playing the opening melody on guitar, followed by Duff with “a bass line that was so Guns N' Roses ,” the producer recalled. They both worked together on the riff before the song moved on to writing the lyrics.
In writing the lyrics for "All My Life," the producer worked with songwriter Ali Tamposi, also known for her work with Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora , and 5 Seconds of Summer . "Ali and Ozzy are sober and really connected because of that, you can tell from the lyrics," Watts said.
Finally, Ozzy Osbourne stepped in to lend his voice to the track. “And recording Ozzy’s vocals is the most fun thing in the world. He doubles his voice and nails it, he puts all the emotion into it,” he recalled.
