The São Paulo consumer protection agency, Procon, has notified Eventim , the company responsible for ticket sales for the My Chemical Romance . The American band  announced its highly anticipated return to Brazil , with a single show in February 2026.

However, the ticket prices caught the public's attention last Wednesday, the 25th, during the pre-sale. Fixed prices range from R$ 197.50 to R$ 895.00, but, in addition to the ticket, a series of extra charges surprised the public.

One of them is the processing fee, which, according to Eventim, serves to guarantee the security of consumer data. However, this justification has generated outrage among fans, who questioned whether this function is included in the already charged service fee.

According to José Norberto Flesch , charging a processing fee is unprecedented at Eventim. The box office first charged it for the Planet Hemp and now for the My Chemical Romance concert.

In a statement, Procon requests a detailed explanation of the new processing fee within 48 business hours.

The note says:

"According to Procon-SP (São Paulo's consumer protection agency), companies can charge fees as long as they demonstrably refer to services actually rendered, and not to business costs already included in the ticket price, as they are part of the operation."

Furthermore, Procon-SP (São Paulo's consumer protection agency) understands that it is the duty of companies to present, clearly, objectively, and in advance, the total amount that the consumer will have to pay for the ticket. In other words, this total amount must be disclosed as soon as the service is offered (advertising, purchase website, box office, etc.); and the consumer cannot discover the costs only as they progress through the purchase process.

Eventim's response

Eventim, the event's official ticketing company, published an explanatory note in the FAQ section of its website regarding each of the fees. Read the statement below:

"The Service Fee corresponds to the remuneration for the service provided when, at the customer's choice, the purchase is made through the Eventim website or Points of Sale (POS), without the need to go to the Official Box Office, where the fee is not charged. Because it is an effective service provision, which occurs from browsing, through the reservation and at the moment of purchase completion, and the consumer has successfully used the service, its value is not subject to refund or reimbursement."

The Processing Fee is charged to cover essential costs for the operation and maintenance of the electronic payment system, such as transaction processing costs (payment authorization and operation), security of customer information (protection of financial data), transfer of funds to the event promoter, and other related services.

The fee will be charged based on the value and items of the order placed and will be applicable depending on the electronic payment method chosen when a customer makes the purchase or payment, for example credit cards, debit cards and Pix (Brazilian instant payment system), the payment location, the transaction amount, the volume, the payment processors involved in the transaction, among other factors.

The Administration Fee (ADM) is charged by the company that holds the exclusive rights to manage the scheduling of events, shows, and performances in specific arenas, stadiums, and/or performance venues, at its sole discretion. Eventim assumes no responsibility for this charge.

This is a fixed, one-time fee, regardless of sector or type of ticket, whether for online sales or in-store purchases.

Despite the incident, tickets are already on sale to the general public on the Eventim .
