Prika Amaral , guitarist and vocalist of Nervosa , listed the 10 songs that, according to her, changed her life. The selected tracks were responsible for shaping her passion for heavy music and her journey as an artist.
In an interview with Metal Hammer , Prika selected songs ranging from thrash metal classics to bands she considers fundamental pillars of the genre. Among her choices, one song recalls a traumatic moment she experienced in 2012. When including Saxon "Wheels of Steel" on the list, she explained why:
“If you like the vibe of the 70s, you can’t go wrong with Saxon and ‘Wheels of Steel.’ I’m a motorcycle girl, so it’s a perfect song for me. The band has had an incredible discography for so long. I’ve been riding motorcycles for about 13 years and got my license around 2012. It can be quite scary in Brazil: a year after I bought my own motorcycle, I was stopped at a traffic light in São Paulo when a guy ran out after robbing a bank. He saw me, put a gun to my face and stole my motorcycle. That was really my biggest fear! I managed to get it back after a week, I was very lucky they hadn’t dismantled it, but he used it to commit more crimes. He’s in jail now, so it’s all good!”, she said [transcription via Loudersound ].
