Power Trip announced this Tuesday, the 20th, that they will be playing on June 8th at the No Values in California, marking an official return to the stage after more than 3 years.

In August 2020, the band and fans grieved the loss of vocalist Riley Gale , and consequently faced an uncertain future and a long hiatus.

The singer will be Seth Gilmore , who is part of the bands Fugitive and Skourge . Seth had already performed as vocalist for Power Trip at the band's first show after Gale's death in 2023, but it wasn't yet official.

In addition to Power Trip, the following acts have been confirmed for the festival: No Values, The Misfits Original , Iggy Pop , Turnstile , Bad Religion , Sublime , among others.

Surprise show with Seth Gilmore upset Riley Gale's family.

In December 2023, Power Trip surprised fans with a performance at the Mohawk music venue in Austin, Texas, with Gilmore as the lead vocalist.

The setlist of just 5 songs was played after the Fugitive show, which, in addition to Seth, includes Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez.

The surprise may have excited fans, but it wasn't well received by Riley's family, who made a public statement expressing their dissatisfaction at not having been consulted.

In this part of the statement, the discomfort with the way the band chose to return publicly is clear (via Igor Miranda ):

“The Riley Gale Memorial Foundation and the Gale family are aware of the event that took place at the Mohawk in Austin, TX, on December 1, 2023. It took us completely by surprise. At no point during the planning or preparation up to the event was anyone from the Gale family consulted or even invited. We were not asked for our thoughts or feelings about it. If we had been aware, we would have liked to discuss who would have done the vocals, as Riley had made very specific requests for this exact setting.”

We would have requested that it take place in Dallas, where Riley and Power Trip were born, where he was instrumental in building the hardcore and metal community even before stepping onto the stage as an artist. We wanted it to be a surprise and a wonderful addition to the Riley Gale & Friends Day concert, the main fundraising event for the Riley Gale Memorial Foundation, which supports the causes Riley cared about, as well as helping emerging bands through the Riley Gale Band Touring Grant.”

Shows in 2024

The official announcement of Power Trip's return with live performances was made on the band's Instagram profile. Check out the full translation:

"Almost four years ago, without knowing it, we would perform for the last time as Power Trip."

It has been a difficult journey since then, marked by deep pain, grief, and everything else that came with the loss of our brother Riley.

We know this can't be undone and will always be a part of us. We think a lot about the future of Power Trip and what always resonates is that this band was founded on resilience, perseverance and most importantly: love for music and for all the people who came close because of it.

We will never have words to express our appreciation for the support we have received over the years, and we feel it's time to return to the stage for all of you who have been there throughout our existence as a band.

That being said, we are excited to announce a round of performances in 2024, beginning with the No Values festival on June 8th in Southern California.

Joining us will be our longtime friend and collaborator, Fugitive/Skourge vocalist Seth Gilmore, who will be handling vocals for upcoming shows. Stay tuned, more information coming soon…

Riley Gale forever. Power Trip forever.

See you on stage.

Blake, Chris, Nick and Chris
