Lead singer of Iron Maiden cover band with clown theme arrested for drug trafficking

The musician smuggled nearly 10 kilos of drugs

The frontman of an Iron Maiden cover band, where the members dress as clowns, was arrested for drug trafficking in Japan.

Daniel Burton Whitmore, known as Dicksee Diànno, brought the equivalent of $7 million (approximately R$22 million) worth of drugs into the country.

Whitmore smuggled nearly 10 kilograms of "stimulant drugs" hidden in a false bottom of his guitar case.

Customs officials revealed they became suspicious of the musician after noticing his nervousness during the mandatory airport security check. When questioned, the vocalist said he was carrying the guitar at the request of a Chinese national living in Canada.

The band Powerclown released a statement on their social media:

“The flags fly at half-mast at the Powerclown circus. I guarantee that any frustration is real. Painted [on our faces] or not. All we can do is wish him the best. Clowning around and magic tricks, whether by him or by us, won't help. Even with his voice, the voice of a bird, and his smooth charm like velvet paint, he won't get out of this, even if he speaks Japanese.”.

While none of our clowns condone Dicksee's actions or recommend anyone attempt something so senseless, we hope the best for our grease-painted friend. We hope that, by some small… or large… miracle, he somehow manages to slip into his pink pants and dance his way home to face this different form of music he's created for himself.

We love you, Dicksee. If you somehow come back here, and we hope you do, maybe we can go easy on you. Maybe. No promises.”
