Pope Francis is known for his love of music, especially Argentine tango. On the evening of January 11, the pontiff was seen leaving a record store near the Roman Pantheon, but he didn't take any Metallica , Iron Maiden , or Black Sabbath .

According to the Angelus News , a Spanish journalist named Javier Martinez happened to be in the same place as the Pope, despite the latter having made a discreet visit to the Stereosound . Martinez then reportedly went inside to speak with the owners of the establishment after Francis had left.

During the conversation, the journalist discovered that Francis used to be a regular customer of the store before being elected Pope, when he was still known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio . Apparently, the owners of Stereosound had a brief argument because they couldn't remember if the pontiff was a cardinal or an archbishop at the time.

Apparently, Francis had promised to revisit the store after his appointment as Pope – a promise that has only now been fulfilled, almost 10 years later. The Pope did not make any purchases during his visit, but he did receive a classical music CD from the owners.

“He was in the store for 12 minutes,” Martinez recounts. “I saw him bless the store owner, her daughter, and her son-in-law. He talked to them and listened to them. The daughter handed him a CD wrapped in blue paper before he left.”
