A Detroit police official told Variety magazine that the death of vocalist Chris Cornell is being investigated as a possible suicide. Cornell passed away last night , May 17th, at the age of 52.
Police spokesman Michael Woody stated the following:
"At midnight we received a call from the MGM Grand Casino Hotel. Apparently a family friend was checking on Cornell at his wife's request. He went to the hotel and found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. Police contacted emergency medical services, who pronounced him dead at the scene.".
"At this time, our investigation is leaning toward the possibility of suicide, but we must await the medical report to determine the cause of death. At this time, we cannot release information about what we observed in Cornell's hotel room or what led us to consider this possibility.".
