Police investigate hardcore concert in New York with over 2,000 people.

The free event took place without social distancing or the use of masks.

Last Saturday, the 24th, a hardcore show with approximately 2,500 people took place in New York. The event was organized by Black N' Blue Productions and featured the band Madball , with support from Murphy's Law , Bloodclot , and The Capturers.

The show took place for free in Tompkins Square Park and was criticized for not following COVID-19 safety protocols. Photos and videos circulating online show that most of the audience did not comply with basic protection rules such as wearing masks and social distancing.

Now, according to the Gothamist (via Lambgoat ), the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation is investigating the show. Authorities say there may have been a violation of the permit that allowed the event to take place.

The following day, Bloodclot vocalist John Joseph responded to the criticism with a Facebook post defending the event. “It was a blast! We raised money for the FDNY Burn Unit, and fed people organic food,” he wrote.

“And let me say this – to all those assholes who talk. Last year in New York there were protests – tens of thousands of people in the streets – some riots and looting involved in biased attacks – on Marijuana Day (April 20th) – thousands of people went to Washington Square Park – sharing joints and marijuana paraphernalia. Nobody said a damn thing. This was OUR PROTEST – OUR MARCH. People who didn't want to come – stayed away. Good – nobody missed their ass.”

This was the first major concert to take place in NYC since the start of the pandemic. See some photos from the event below.
