What happens in Bahia after Carnival? Contrary to the expectations of those who see the state through the lens of television, the end of the carnival celebrations announces the beginning of the annual movements of the rock scene. It was with this feeling that Point do Rock 2025 delivered another great edition last weekend (15).

The beginning of a new era: Point do Rock 2025

The event, which began in the early 2000s, takes place in the city of Vitória da Conquista (BA) and its main objective is to provide the local scene with the organizational and structural experience normally found in more "commercial" music festivals and/or large concerts held in the Rio-São Paulo axis.

At Point do Rock 2025, the production team fulfilled a long-held dream: to bring nationally renowned bands to the event. And so they did. Matanza Ritual and Ratos de Porão christened this new phase of the event and, in return, were rewarded with an ecstatic audience.

Admirable for its diversity in gender and age range, the audience at Point do Rock made the Camilo de Jesus Lima Cultural Center tremble and sang along with the bands to every song, right up until the last second of the shows.

João Gordo's Birthday: an unexpected celebration

As if fate wanted to throw a party, some fortunate coincidences marked the two days of the event. The first of these was the birthday boy of the month: João Gordo (vocalist of Ratos de Porão ). The artist celebrated his 61st birthday the day before Point and made each mosh pit seem like a genuine birthday wish.

Nobody stayed home watching TV.

The birthday boy was João Gordo, but at the Matanza , it was the audience from Vitória da Conquista who received a gift. Here's our second happy coincidence: the band closed out Sunday at Point do Rock with their first show of 2025. And what seemed very good got even better with the thrill of hearing, firsthand, songs from Matanza Ritual's newest album, A vingança é meu motor (Revenge is my engine) . The album is already available for pre-save music platforms and is scheduled for release on March 21st.

A highlight here was the thunderous presence of Jimmy London , who made the stage seem small and the audience go wild. The purifying force of Matanza's lyrics guaranteed a much lighter start to the week for those who surrendered to the show.

Sorry, Jimmy… but the show wasn't bad at all, and yet it was too good.

To the children of the house, what pride!

The Point do Rock 2025 lineup also featured 8 acts made up of local bands, already known to the public and admired for their role in driving and building the rock scene in the interior of Bahia. Honoring the event's main objective, each of them brought their best to the show, entertaining and filling the crowd with pride.

Between high-quality covers and original songs, those who chose to be there full-time could enjoy sounds from Charlie Brown Jr. , Linkin Park , Angra , Metallica , and even participate in the recording of a music video. The band Dona Iracema , founders of the "caatincore iracemático Caatincore and Iracema), took advantage of the dedicated audience to record the music video for the song "Casa do Caralho," a track from the band's latest work, Rojão 12×1 .

In recognition of the two incredible days of the event, here is the complete list of acts featured in the Point do Rock 2025 lineup: Princípio Ativo , Black Lis , Points Of Authority , Outra Conduta , Ratos de Porão , Ladrões de Vinil , Fire , Menino de Lata , Dona Iracema , and Matanza Ritual .

Point do Rock's social commitment

With a production team made up of people who have been in rock bands and who, one day, were young teenagers looking for an accessible space that would accommodate their tastes and preferences, Point do Rock has guaranteed, for another year, the social entry fee (1kg of non-perishable food that will be directed to projects active in the city).

The result? A transformative event with the potential to renew the expectations of generations involved with a musical genre that doesn't survive solely on international shows at Allianz Parque or festivals in major cities. Brazilian rock also depends on the movement that takes place in the country's interior, even with limited resources.

Long live Point do Rock, and may the 2026 edition come soon!
