The legendary performance, which drew approximately 120,000 people, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2020 and was previously only available on DVD. Pink Floyd's performance in the English village of Knebworth was part of a lineup packed with rock legends who received the Silver Clef Award for outstanding contributions to British music. Other names present at the awards ceremony included Eric Clapton, Elton John, Dire Straits, Genesis, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page.
Nordoff Robbins charity , and all proceeds from the event went towards the creation of the BRIT School , a public performing arts and technology school located in Croydon, England.
In a statement, drummer Nick Mason recalled the show (via Rockbizz ): “There’s something special about Knebworth. We all still have fond memories of playing there in the 70s, and this show was no different. As a kid from North London, this was almost like a home performance, but with the added pleasure of being the band getting back together after a mega tour that lasted over a year.”
