In this week's Wikimetal poll, Pink Floyd had a resounding victory, voted the best Progressive Rock band with 77% of the votes. Yes (9%) and Jethro Tull (7%) came in second and third place respectively.
The English band from 1965 has sold over 250 million albums worldwide and continues to influence countless rock bands to this day. Queen, Tool, Marillion, Queensriche, and Nine Inch Nails are just some of the bands that cite Pink Floyd as an inspiration.
In interviews with Wikimetal, Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society, John Schaffer of Iced Earth, and Shannon Larkin of Godsmack named Pink Floyd as one of their main influences.
