Pink Floyd returned to the top of the UK charts with the re-release of the album Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII. This is their first album to reach number one on the charts since The Endless River in 2014.
The British band proves its relevance decades after its peak, achieving its seventh number 1 album on the official UK charts.
Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII captures one of rock's most impressive concerts, documented by director Adrian Maben . The production company restored the film in 4K quality and re-released it in theaters, including in IMAX format.
This is the first independent version, with a new sound mix overseen by progressive rock musician Steven Wilson. Previously, the show was included as part of a Pink Floyd box set.
In 1971, the band filmed historical material in the legendary Roman Amphitheatre of Pompeii, Italy. The ancient Roman city was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
According to the Official Charts , the band is now tied with names like George Michael and Muse on the list of artists with the most number 1 albums in the UK.
Other albums that reached the top of the charts were Atom Heart Mother (1970), Wish You Were Here (1975), The Final Cut (1983), The Division Bell (1994), and Pulse (1995).
