The musician died in April 1994, a victim of suicide.

After a long legal battle, Courtney Love and Frances Bean won the lawsuit prohibiting the release of photos of the death of Nirvana , Kurt Cobain .

According to the Washington court, the release of the images "violates the 14th Amendment, which protects the rights of the Cobain family." The widow and her daughter, who was just a baby when her father died, testified against the release of the photos.

The decision was made after a Seattle journalist filed a request to close the case. Richard Lee sought to release the 55 photos taken at the scene where Cobain's body was found to prove that he did not die by suicide in 1994, but rather was murdered.

Considered one of the icons of grunge and 90s music, Cobain was found dead by an electrician at age 27 on April 8th at his home in Seattle. The cause of death was ruled a suicide after a police report identified that the musician used a shotgun to shoot himself. A suicide note was also found at the scene.

It was later announced that Cobain had been dead for 34 hours, revealing that he had died on April 5th. Since then, numerous conspiracy theories have claimed that the Nirvana frontman was murdered, as the autopsy report indicated a high level of drugs in his system, leading many to believe that he would not have had the capacity and strength necessary to commit suicide.
