Photo caused controversy
Aerosmith posted a photo this past weekend of Joe Perry and Steven Tyler with President Obama aboard Air Force One. A day later, following comments from the band's drummer, the photo was taken down.
The photo was posted Saturday night on the band's official Twitter account, following an accidental encounter between the band and the president at the Florida airport. Shortly after, drummer Joey Kramer retweeted the photo with the caption "Does not represent Aerosmith ." After some comments from fans, Kramer made two more posts: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion, this is called democracy and I support it" and "I'm not saying who I support! I don't support anyone speaking for me .
After the conflict, the photo was removed from the band's Twitter account, but remained posted on Perry and Tyler's personal profiles.
Although he has not publicly endorsed Donald Trump, Kramer and Perry were both invited by the Republican to a debate last year. Kramer has also made posts on Twitter criticizing Obama's policies.
Joe Perry, despite being an avowed Republican, said it was great to meet Obama, calling the president "truly incredible": "As a Republican, I have a lot of respect for the office, you know? Sitting there with the president and leader of the free world... it was really cool."
