Philip Anselmo's set was a tribute to Dimebag and Vinnie Paul.
Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals a project led by former Pantera vocalist Philip Anselmo , performed a show playing only classics from the metal band.
At the beginning of the performance, Anselmo spoke about the reasons for this: “Let’s make it clear: I’m doing this in honor of Vince and Dime ,” he said. “Dimebag” Darrel Abbott and Vinnie Paul Abbott were brothers and bandmates of Anselmo.
The performance was streamed on the band's official Facebook page and can be viewed here .
Vinnie and Dimebag formed the band Damageplan after Pantera disbanded in 2003. On December 8, 2004, while performing, Dimebag was shot and killed on stage. The killer suffered from schizophrenia and believed that the members of Pantera were stealing his thoughts. Vinnie Paul died in June 2018 from serious arterial disease.
