Phil X , guitarist for Bon Jovi, revealed some details about the band's new album.
The guitarist, who joined Bon Jovi in 2011, gave an interview to the Kenny Aronoff Sessions and revealed that they just finished recording a new album in Nashville (via Ultimate Classic Rock ), "I'm super excited about it."
“There were a few instances where we were all collaborating as a group. And I had flashbacks of watching an Eagles where they were in the studio creating Hotel California . I got that vibe. And I got goosebumps,” Phil X said.
The guitarist also explained why creating the latest album was different from anything he'd done with the band and that he was eager to collaborate with Jon Bon Jovi on the new songs, but admitted there were still moments that seemed too good to be true, “There were songs where I thought, ‘I think this bridge should start like this,’ and Jon said, ‘Good idea, X.’ And then we’d start. I heard, ‘Good job, X?’ The hairs on my arm stood on end. What the hell happened?”
Louder guitars
“Jon is very excited about the album. I think the whole band is super excited about this album,” the guitarist continued. “I don’t think the guitars were loud enough on the last few Bon Jovi albums. And I think if the guitars are in the right space on this album, then I’ll be really proud – I mean, I’ll be proud anyway, but for other listeners, I want them to feel the guitars. Because it’s Bon Jovi, right? It’s a rock album.”.
Details about the successor to 2020 , including title and release date, have not yet been revealed. Following Phil X's statements, everything indicates that Richie Sambora will not be returning to the band, contradicting recent speculation .
