35 years after his participation in the album The Ultimate Sin , Phil Soussan is finally clarifying some rumors about his relationship with Ozzy Osbourne and a possible legal battle between the two.
Soussan, who co-wrote one of Osbourne's biggest hits, the track "Shot In The Dark," stated on the radio program The Five Count that he never sued Ozzy, despite being invited to join a lawsuit filed by bassist Bob Daisley . "I had no reason to sue anyone," he asserted. "I think Bob and Lee [ Kerslake ] had some issues going on, but when they called me, I said the same thing I'm telling you. I said, 'Why would I want to do that?'"
Soussan said the whole situation boils down to his inability to get the deal he wanted because of a disagreement with Sharon Osbourne . “She basically presented the opportunity [to play for Ozzy] in a very simple way. We were being hired to do our best work – the best possible job to make Ozzy sound and look as good as he could,” the musician said.
“It got to the point where they expected me to write more songs and I wanted to boost my promotion, and for some reason, I couldn't reach an acceptable agreement for Sharon, and I also couldn't get the deal I wanted. So, at that moment, I thought, 'It's time to move on,'” he says. Soussan further clarified that there was some problem with his payment at the time, but that this was eventually resolved.
