Phil Rudd sentenced to eight months of house arrest.

Rudd's lawyer has already initiated the appeal process.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was sentenced yesterday to charges of making death threats and drug possession. Rudd pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight months of house arrest and a ban on the use of non-prescription drugs.

Rudd's son appeared in court appealing for his father's freedom: "My father has a heart of gold and wouldn't hurt a fly. But when drugs take over, he behaves the way he taught me not to behave .

Rudd's lawyer initiated an appeal process on the same day as the sentencing. During the period of the case and sentencing, AC/DC is playing with drummer Chris Slade in Phil's place .
