Phil Labonte , vocalist of the band All That Remains , stated in an interview for the podcast Breaking The Ice that the songs from Metallica 's Load and Reload could very well belong to the Canadian band Nickelback .
“I want to highlight something about Nickelback that I think many people know, but don’t realize they know. Nickelback’s albums are the Load and Reload of Metallica, sonically,” said Labonte.
“If you listen to Nickelback albums and then listen to Metallica’s Load and Reload Load or Reload , and almost every song on Load or Reload could be on a Nickelback album. Just put James Hetfield on a Nickelback album or vice versa, and you wouldn’t know the difference. And that’s not a criticism – that’s not a criticism.”
Phil continues to defend his point, “I’ve thought about this a lot. Sonically, these records are very, very similar. The tones they selected, the bass drums, the drum sounds…” A rather controversial opinion, isn’t it?
