Phil Demmel , guitarist and founder of Vio-lence , announced this Monday, the 5th, that he will be leaving the Californian band after the show scheduled for this Sunday, the 11th, in São Paulo.
In a video posted on his Instagram , Demmel explained that this decision is not related to the fact that he is now part of the new band of Kerry King, former guitarist of Slayer.
According to Demmel, the decision came about because he felt it was the right time to say goodbye to the band. The guitarist stated:
“I’m here to announce that next Sunday I will be playing my last concert with Vio-Lence,” Kerry King’s band announced. “The timing is strange, I know, but this doesn’t coincide with Kerry’s situation… This decision has been in the works for some time, but I wasn’t quite aware of it. My position in the band has been uncertain for a while.”.
Kerry King's new band
It's difficult to separate the announcement from the formation of Kerry King's new band, which boasts a true thrash metal dream team: Mark Osegueda (Death Angel) on vocals; Kyle Sanders ( Hellyeah , ex- Bloodsimple ) on bass; and Paul Bostaph (ex -Slayer ) on drums. And we've already had a demonstration of the strength of this lineup with the song: "Indle Hands".
Kool Metal Fest
With this news, Kool Metal Fest has become even more special, as it will be the guitarist's farewell performance. In addition to Vio-lence, we will also have Exhorder, one of the great names in New Orleans thrash metal. Completing the lineup are the Brazilian bands : Ratos de Porão, Damn Youth, Escalpo, Cerberus Attack, and Santa Muerte.
