Phil Anselmo said during an interview with Paulo Baron that he would play Pantera with Rex Brown at a future reunion.
The 53-year-old singer, who has spent the last few years playing Pantera songs with his band The Illegals , discussed with Paulo Baron the possibility of reuniting with his colleague Rex Brown.
“I think Rex sees what I’m doing with the Illegals and he likes it. Because the more I keep Pantera alive, the better for him too,” he commented. “I think Rex is happy with his solo band and his projects and I think he’s in the studio right now. He has his own things going on.”
Anselmo also commented that if Rex has any shows scheduled, he would go on stage to perform with him. “I love Rex,” he said, “We’re brothers. So playing on stage with him again, or doing some shows together, isn’t out of the question. It could happen.”
Last March, Rex Brown said during an interview that he and Anselmo constantly receive offers to do a Pantera tour, but that if the other members can't participate, it doesn't make sense. "It wouldn't sound the same," he said at the time. But he says he's open to doing a tribute show or something similar.
