Phil Anselmo prepared a tribute to the legacy of Pantera and to honor the brothers Dimebag Darrell , murdered in 2004, and Vinnie Paul Abbott , who died in 2018.
“It’s one of those situations where you need to accept the facts. All of this is terribly sad. It’s too difficult to even convince myself to listen to Pantera’s stuff,” Anselmo told The News-Herald (via Blabbermouth) . “Actually, I learned a while ago while dealing with Dimebag’s death that I could wallow in the past, but it’s not healthy.”
“In comparison, when I play these songs, for me it’s about celebrating the lives of Dimebag and Vince,” Anselmo explained. “I have to do my best for my fallen brothers and for all our fans. I need to do my best and look on the bright side.”.
A Vulgar Display Of Pantera , a live performance by Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals , takes place this Friday, April 9th. Among the songs chosen for the setlist are “Cowboys From Hell”, “Vulgar Display Of Power”, “Far Beyond Driven”, “The Great Southern Trendkill” and “Reinventing The Steel”.
