The tragic departure of Dimebag Darell

Dimebag was shot at age 38 on stage while performing with his band, Damageplan, on December 8, 2004, at the Alrosa Villa in Ohio, by Nathan Gale, a former Marine.

Speculation about the motive behind the murder suggests that, in addition to mental health issues, as a Pantera fan, Gale couldn't accept the band's breakup and blamed Dimebag for the split.

Distraught, he shot and killed the guitarist and three other people who were trying to calm the situation.
