The petition argues:

“Heavy rock lost its most iconic figure last Christmas with the unexpected death of Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister. Lemmy was a force of nature and the purest essence of heavy metal. We believe it would be appropriate for the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry to recommend that one of the four recently discovered heavy metals be named Lemmium.”

Lemmy passed away on December 28th at the age of 70, a victim of cancer.
