A few days ago, a petition was started by Debbi Lynn , the mother of a student at Eden High School in Canada, calling for the school's principal, Sharon Burns , to be fired simply for expressing her love of heavy metal, particularly Iron Maiden .
The petition featured a photo of Sharon with an Iron Maiden flag and read, “Eden High School Principal Sharon Burns Must Be Transferred Immediately!”
Now, another petition has been created on Change.org to support Sharon. This petition has already been signed by thousands more people than the original petition. Following this, the National Post revealed that Sharon Burns will remain as Principal at Eden High School.
“I’m surprised this story blew up like this,” said Karrie Porter , a member of the education board for the city of St. Catharines where the school is located. “It’s funny, silly, and frustrating all at the same time.”
The request to keep the principal was supported by almost 25,000 people, while the original petition had just over 500 supporters. Students, fans using social media, the press in general, politicians from various countries, and members of rock bands are among the 25,000 who signed to keep the principal.
