The vocalist died last Saturday, the 8th, victim of a cardiac arrest

On June 8th, last Saturday, we lost Andre Matos , the legendary Brazilian musician responsible for founding the bands Viper, Shaman , and Angra . Now, fans are circulating a petition to have that date officially recognized as Metal Day in Brazil – click here to sign the petition.

The petition aims to gather 20,000 signatures in total, the minimum number required for it to be submitted to the Federal Senate as a Legislative Suggestion. After that, it can be discussed by the senators and subsequently approved.

Prissila F., the fan responsible for creating the petition, wants to honor the singer. "Andre Matos was a maestro, singer, composer, and founder of the bands Viper, Angra, and Shaman, where he took Brazilian metal to a global level and earned recognition from major international music icons," she writes on the petition page.

Matos died at age 47, a victim of cardiac arrest. According to Prissila, he “left an immense legacy for Brazilian music, an irreplaceable voice, and didn't receive the recognition he deserved during his lifetime. We need to honor Andre in a grand way, just as he was.”
