Australian metal legend Peter Hobbs passed away at his home on Monday. He was 58 years old.
Hobbs was much loved in the Australian metal community. He was groundbreaking as one of the first Australian metal artists to record and perform outside the country.
Peter made his mark with thrash metal pioneers Tyrus before joining Angel of Death . He referred to the sound as "virgin metal," as he saw it as a pure form of metal.
Their self-titled debut album was released in 1988. The band broke up shortly after its release. Seven years later, they reunited and released their second album, Inheritance .
Hobbs Angel of Death's most recent album, Heaven Bled , was released in 2016.
