Peter Frampton released a cover of the song "Loving the Alien" by his friend and former bandmate David Bowie .
The song is part of a completely instrumental cover album by the guitarist, called Frampton Forgets the Words , which will be released on April 23rd. The project also includes covers of Lenny Kravitz , George Harrison , and Radiohead .
Frampton was a childhood friend of Bowie's. They met in a band during their school days and rekindled their friendship in their professional careers when Frampton was hired as a guitarist to accompany the Chameleon of Rock on the Glass Spider Tour (1987), which included "Loving the Alien" in its setlist. In the music video, several scenes of the duo on stage are recalled as a tribute to their friend.
