Pete Townshend is working on a new The Who album during quarantine.

“It feels like a gift,” Pete says about the extra studio time he’s gained.

Pete Townshend of The Who is joining several musicians who are not associating quarantine with vacation.

The legend told the BBC that he was using his time in isolation to work on a new album for The Who. Staying home was like a response to a necessity, he said.

“I have to say I feel really lucky, because what I mainly do is spend a lot of time alone in the studio. I feel like I received an answer to a prayer that I don't think I would have had the courage to make, which was, 'Please cancel everything and give me some time in the studio!' It feels like a gift,” says Pete.

The musician is focusing on remixing “Beads on One String,” a track from the band’s latest album, Who (2019), possibly to be released as a single . However, he is taking the opportunity to advance the new Who album, which was scheduled to begin production only next year.
