What if Sarcófago were a doom metal band? The Minas Gerais-based quartet Pesta answers this question at a high level with the release of their cover of "Nightmare," bringing an oppressive and dark atmosphere to the track.
While the original track, part of the album INRI (1987), Sarcófago's first and a landmark in national extreme metal, has a frenetic rhythm and brutal vocals, characteristic of death/black metal, Pesta's tribute slows down the track and brings a cleaner voice, as is typical of stoner and doom, but no less impactful for it.
The cover, released in early February, came with a music video filmed at Mister Rock in Belo Horizonte. Compare the two versions below.
