Nickelback's bassist talked about what it's like to be in a band that so many people hate.
Nickelback is probably one of the most hated bands in North America. It makes you wonder what terrible things they've done to the public consciousness. It's gotten to the point where people who like the band hide their albums and deny being fans.
Bassist Mike Kroeger spoke in an interview about all this hate. “Initially, it kind of hurt our feelings. I think anyone in the world feels that way when people say negative things about you. I think, over time, it kind of became funny sometimes. People try so hard to be mean that it loses its effect,” he commented.
"It doesn't matter if it's my band or not. If someone says something genuinely funny, I'm going to laugh. Especially if it's about me," he continued.
“Sometimes people can just be awful and take things too far. They start verbally attacking our family members and sending us death threats and things like that. That's when you have to take a step back and think, 'We're obviously doing something right if someone hates us that much.' And you let it go because you have more important things to do. I don't see any reason to react to these awful people. But when it's funny, it's funny,” he added.
