Marcelo Barbosa , from Angra , answers several technical questions on his Instagram profile. Shortly after Ed Motta complained about "rock people ," whom he classified as "pentatonic scale players ," the guitarist explained what that term means.

 “It’s a five-note [musical] scale, one of the most famous and widely used. It only has five notes, unlike most scales, which have seven notes. In fact, the name itself hints at this: pentatonic means five (…) and tonic stands for tones, so five tones, five sounds, five notes, that’s where the name comes from,” he summarized. 

The pentatonic scale, Marcelo Barbosa , is widely used in its major form because it is "very versatile." Watch the video below.
