Pentagram 's Oceania debut tour, scheduled for August, has been cancelled. This decision follows a series of protests and criticisms directed at lead singer Bobby Liebling through The Red Heart Campaign .
The organization works directly to combat violence against children and women.
In 2017, Liebling received an 18-month prison sentence for "abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult," in this case, his mother.
Through the publication [ via Loudersound ] “Violent thug to perform in Australia”, The Red Heart issued a statement:
"Australian music venues and the government are allowing a man who assaulted his elderly mother to perform here, right in the middle of an epidemic of male violence!"
The boycott attempt was effective, as the public contacted the concert venues and even local authorities, such as Immigration Minister Tony Burke and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese .
Production company comments on Pentagram's Oceania tour that was ultimately cancelled.
In a statement, Hardline Media said the shows are suspended and that none of the band members have had their visas approved.
"Due to the current allegations surrounding the Pentagram tour of Australia/New Zealand, Hardline Media has decided to suspend the tour."
"Just to clarify, no visas have been granted, as previously stated by other media outlets. No location or staff are, to date, involved in these allegations. With all due respect, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we deal with this situation."
