Pearl Jam has finally announced the release of their new album. Titled Gigaton , this is their first album of new material in seven years.

The anticipated release date is March 27th, and it will be released by the band's label , Monkeywrench Records, in conjunction with Republic Records .

Mike McCready , guitarist for Pearl Jam, spoke about the album:

“Creating this album was a long journey. It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but it was also an exciting and experimental guide to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton brought me more love, awareness, and wisdom regarding human connections in today's times.”

The album cover is a photograph by Paul Nicklen called "Ice Waterfall," depicting ice caps in Norway. Gigaton is the name used to measure the melting of the polar ice caps.

The first new track from the album will be called “Dance of the Clairvoyants,” and it should be released in the coming days.

Pearl Jam has also announced a North American tour. Some of the opening acts that will accompany Pearl Jam are IDLES, Pixies , and White Reaper .
