Jeff Ament revealed on the Kyle Meredith With… Pearl Jam 's new album is not expected to be released until 2024. This statement came weeks after guitarist Stone Gossard claimed that the successor to Gigaton (2020) was nearly finished .

“I think I heard Stone say the album was finished, but I know it’s not. I don’t think all the songs are ready. The hardest part of making an album is often figuring out which songs will end up on the album and if we need to record another song, and what the artwork will be, what the title will be, and all those things,” the bassist said this Friday, 30 (transcription via Blabbermouth ).

“And I know that now everyone wants time off in the summer, because last year was a bit hectic. For me, in a week, I'm switching off from everything. And I know the album isn't ready yet, so in September we'll still be wondering and revisiting where we are and everything else. But I think everyone hopes we'll have an album released next year. If we have a record, we'll probably do a few more shows. There are some places we haven't played in a long time.”

Ament also commented on the inspiration for Pearl Jam's next project: “I think we want to access all the best parts of each other and flourish. We just want to support each other to, consequently, make the best music possible. It's like embracing everyone's ideas, hopes, dreams, desires, and styles.”
