Pearl Jam cover band changes name to Legal Jam after dispute with band's lawyers.

The band had to change its name after Pearl Jam's lawyers threatened to sue them

The British band Pearl Jamm , a Pearl Jam , had to change its name after the group's lawyers sent letters threatening legal action if they didn't change it. The band changed its name to Legal Jam and had to give up internet domains and email addresses to the Seattle group.

On Facebook, in a now-unavailable post, Pearl Jamm made the case public, stating that the letters sent by their lawyers contained "aggressive language," which left its members "heartbroken.".

In the statement, they wrote: “To Eddie , Jeff , Stone , Mike , Matt , Boom ; to Pearl Jam, you broke our hearts. You knew about our tribute band for years and waited until a global pandemic to send threatening legal letters. This is not the Pearl Jam we know and love, the Pearl Jam that fights for social causes and against corporate giants. Yet, your lawyers said that it is you, the band, who are behind this.”

“A name doesn’t define us. We do what we do out of love and respect for Pearl Jam,” the tribute band stated in a new press release. “We are proud to announce our new name: Legal Jam, which we think is a fitting name and with which we can continue to play Pearl Jam’s music in the warmest and most authentic way,” the group explained in a new statement.
