KISS fans last received new material from the band with the 2012 album Monster , and apparently, things are going to stay the same.
It's no secret that KISS is taking its final steps towards the end of a journey that has lasted half a century. In 2019, the band began its final tour, called End Of The Road , but its concert schedule was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pause allowed the official farewell date to be extended until 2022, but it seems that KISS has no plans to gift the public with new material during this waiting period.
In an interview with USA Today , vocalist Paul Stanley said he sees no reason to release anything new from KISS because, according to him, new albums from classic bands are watched, listened to, and then discarded by the public. "It's kind of strange to me that people always want you to make a new album and then they say, 'Great, now play your hits,'" he explained. "When you see any classic band on TV or in a concert video, turn off the sound and I'll tell you every time they're playing a new song because the audience sits down," he added.
In December, Stanley commented on KISS's farewell tour and said that the best show the band ever did was their recent performance in Dubai on New Year's Eve. The performance featured fireworks and pyrotechnic effects that broke two Guinness World Records. "We're almost halfway through the End Of The Road Tour . We realize that we can't be who we are forever, and that time impacts everyone. You play at 'beating the clock,' but in the end, the clock wins," he reflected.
