Paul Stanley appeared on The Project and spoke about Kiss , End Of The Road . This is the group's final tour, and Stanley said [ via Blabbermouth ] : “Well, it’s interesting, because now we get to see the end. When we started planning this, it was probably about five years ago, and then the pandemic came and we lost a few years. We did 250 shows on this End Of The Road , because it’s a long way, and they kept opening up more roads. But we’ve had enough.”
The lead singer and founder of Kiss, however, admits that they can't continue forever: “And rationally, yes, we will [stop], we can't keep doing this. We're in our 70s; hard to believe. But for us, it's reached a point where we realize we can't do this eternally. We're still doing very well. And now it's time to do a victory lap and go with our heads held high and thank everyone and put on a show that really sums it up and really pays tribute not only to us, but to the fans.”
The tour was supposed to end in July 2021, but due to the pandemic, it had to be postponed. The band's final show will be at Madison Square Garden in New York on December 2nd and promises to be grand.
Is this really Kiss's last tour?
This is not the first time Kiss has announced they will end their activities after a tour. In 2000 , with the return of original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss , there was a promise that this would be the group's last tour and that they would then end their journey, which did not happen.
Asked if the New York show will truly be the last, Stanley said: “I really don’t know, but it’s the last of regular shows or tours. It’s time.”
“And in the same way, it’s time-consuming. And physically, it’s exhausting doing what we do. Hell, if I could go on stage in jeans and a t-shirt, I’d easily give us another 10, 15 years. But what we do is a completely different sport. I mean, we’re athletes; we’re running around on stage with 30, 40 pounds of equipment, and it’s not possible to do that for much longer. So, we’re not like other bands.”
Answering the question, he concluded: “So, will we do more shows or one-off events? I really have no idea, but this is a very clear thought that the days of touring and doing that kind of show are over.”
