Paul Stanley , lead singer of Kiss , recently released an R&B album with the group Soul Station , finally exploring his passion for other styles in the studio. For the singer, it doesn't make sense to listen to only a few musical genres.
“Look, when people say they only listen to one type of music, it’s like saying they only eat hamburgers at every meal and even for dessert. I don’t understand that mentality,” he criticized in an interview with Regis Tadeu . “The more variety, the more exciting things become.”
To illustrate, Stanley cited people who only listen to hard rock, rap, or other styles. “I’m not interested in denying myself the ability to listen to other types of music; there’s so much good stuff out there. And some of it was made using technology I don’t use, but I don’t care. If it feels good and sounds good, it’s good music,” he argued.
With four children at different stages of life, ranging in age from nine to 26, the musician doesn't judge their children's playlists. "Just because I don't like something doesn't mean it's bad," he continued. "It's not bad because you don't like it; it might be very good for someone else. It's just a matter of taste."
When asked about current bands he listens to, Stanley listed artists from various musical styles. “ Billie Eilish makes great music. Well, the Foo Fighters aren't new, they've been doing this for years, but Post Malone is great, what Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars are doing is incredible,” he listed. “On the other hand, what Adrian Smith and Ritchie Kotzen are doing is fabulous, simply incredible.”
