"girlboss" discourse has become a trend on social media and in some feminist circles, encouraging women to seek financial independence and pursue their dreams through work and entrepreneurship. One of the biggest proponents of this discourse is socialite Kim Kardashian , but one of her comments didn't sit well with Paul Stanley .
KISS co-founder was bothered by a comment made by a businesswoman from a wealthy family, who said in an interview with Variety that her advice to women is that they should “get their butts off and go to work.” She further added that “it seems like nobody wants to work these days.”
While the discourse surrounding work is appealing to some groups of women, Paul Stanley pointed out that the discourse doesn't take social context into account and noted that Kim Kardashian "was born rich." Sharing the link to the interview in question, the musician wrote:
“The irony here would be comical if it weren’t such a huge insult to millions of women who struggle to achieve [their goals] and put food on the table while fighting against an unequal and disproportionate system. Kim, you were born rich. Embrace that gracefully and don’t be blind.”
